Since its inception, the IAF has had its share of trials and tribulations. The IAF’s mettle was tested in the Second World War, after independence, in the conflicts of 1948, 1965, 1971 and the Kargil Victory in the summer of 1999. IAF has vindicated itself time and again by rising to the myriad challenges, tasks and demands placed on it by the nation. The fortitude and deeds of its men have won many laurels. Its growth and continuous modernization is an index of its ability to adapt with the times and its deeds a testimony to the caliber of its men.
